Sailing Charter Bodrum — Catch the Meltemi on the Aegean
Bodrum is one of the Mediterranean's great sailing destinations — and for good reason. The predictable Meltemi winds, sheltered bays, and spectacular coastline make the waters between Bodrum and Marmaris a sailor's paradise. A sailing charter here is one of the most exhilarating and rewarding ways to experience Turkey.
Whether you want a crewed charter where an expert captain handles the navigation, or a bareboat adventure where you take the wheel yourself, we have the right sailing vessel for your holiday.
Why Sailing in Bodrum?
Perfect Wind Conditions
The Meltemi (Etesian) wind is a consistent north-westerly that blows reliably across the Aegean from June to August, typically Force 3–5 — ideal for sailing without the discomfort of heavy seas. Outside Meltemi season (May, September, October), lighter, variable winds provide pleasant cruising.
Spectacular Coastline
The Bodrum peninsula and Gökova Gulf offer a staggering variety of anchorages: sheltered pine-fringed bays, dramatic cliffs, ancient ruins visible from the water, and white-sand beaches accessible only by sea.
Well-Equipped Infrastructure
Modern marinas at Bodrum, Turgutreis, Datça, and Marmaris provide fuel, water, provisions, Wi-Fi, and emergency support. Navigation is well-charted and straightforward for experienced sailors.
Sailing Vessel Options
Crewed Sailing Yacht (€2,500–8,000/week)
The most accessible sailing charter option. Your professional captain handles all navigation — you simply enjoy the experience. Choose your anchorages, learn to trim a sail if you like, or simply relax.
Bareboat Sailing Yacht (€1,500–5,000/week)
Take command yourself. Our well-maintained monohull fleet (35–50 feet) gives qualified skippers the independence to sail their own route, at their own pace, on their own schedule.
Crewed Sailing Catamaran (€3,500–12,000/week)
All the pleasure of sailing with the stability and space of a twin-hull vessel. A favourite for family sailing holidays.
Sailing Routes from Bodrum
Gökova Gulf Sailing Loop (7 days, recommended)
Consistently sheltered, easy sailing with gorgeous anchorages at every stop.
Datça Peninsula (7 days, intermediate)
More open-sea passages and more varied winds. A wonderful route for more experienced sailors.
Cross-Aegean to Greek Islands (10–14 days)
Requires transit log and Greek harbour fees. Spectacular scenery and the best of two countries.
Sailing Tips for the Bodrum Region
- Best season: June and September for ideal conditions and fewer crowds
- Meltemi timing: Usually kicks in around 14:00–15:00; morning passages are calmer
- Fuel: Carry extra — fuel stops are infrequent in the smaller bays
- Charts: Download Navionics and carry Turkish paper charts as backup
- AIS: Recommend using AIS transponder in the busier ferry channels
